My baby is turning 2 next week, so I made her a dolly

gias doll
Well it is birthday season at our house, mine just passed, as did my sister's, and my husband's father's...in a few days my oldest boy turns 7 and my baby girl turns 2.

Last night I decided to make her a baby doll and I think she is cute. I found her on a friends blog and traced the pattern back to Black Apple. I like the way she turned out. And best of all she is straight from the scrap bin and took all of 15 minutes to make!

The spring quilt blocks are here!!

Well spring is popping up all over the place and you know it never ceases to amaze me each and every year..things come back and everywhere you look is lush and green and full. The forsythias and magnolias bloom, the redbuds look beautiful, the tulips pop up. And the spring blocks are here and gorgeous. I did a set and so did my daughter.

Butterfly apron vintage repro

apron for blessing's swap

Here is a preliminary pic of my latest apron. It is a repro of a vintage apron sent to me for Christmas by my good friend Bev, the Bee Haven Maven over at Bee Haven Acres. I made it for a swap that one of my friend Jenn at Small Graces daughter is putting on. We shall see what else has to be done to it in order to complete this swap. I signed up and made the apron all within the same couple of hours...amazing turnover for me!

School fundraiser quilts

pm quilt

am quilt

So here are my latest completed quilts. They were for a school fundraiser for the preschool classes. Each child decorated an 8 inch block with felt pieces and pom poms. I zig-zagged the felt decorations, and hand quilted the tops after I put them together. I guess everyone really like them. They were auctioned off for more than 800 bucks.

Hopefully this will inspire me to get my other squares made into tops and my tops made into quilts. We will see. My thoughts are that I am going to move one of my treadles outside for the summer and get my tops together while enjoying the sun. I am trying to come up with an easy way to get the machine out there and keep it from becoming destroyed. I think I should be able to do it easily off the side of my sewing room, there is a door and a pretty small porch, so maybe that is the solution.

jess ren faire wearJust trying to figure out how to post a pic within a post. Guess I figured it out. Here is the Renaissance dress I made for myself to go to the faire last October. We had so much fun there and met up with my friend Elizabeth and her family. The kids really had a good time watching the jousting and sword fights, and dressing for the occasion.

whew! This is exhausting!

So I am sitting here reading through all this blog stuff, how to do this that and the other...yikes. I am realizing that maybe I should do this with the help of my 10 yr old. I managed to figure out a few things. Oh and just to amuse myself I need to find 2 more chickens, well I guess just one.

I finally did it

Here it is...one of this year's goals accomplished...here is my blog! Now I just have to customize it to be uniquely me and not this cookie cutter..."hey look at me, I am in blogland now!"
