Crochetted Cotton Skirt

The top is about 1/3 finished and the bottom is about 2/3 finished.
If you go check out Bonne's blog you will see her very simple instructions for a crochetted skirt. Carmen and I are working on one for Carmen. It seems to be coming together rather quickly and is most of the way done. We started out with 4 skeins of cotton yarn from Stephanie the yarn queen over at dreamkingdom adn MJF. See if you like what we have done so far. We have used mostly single crochet, learned how to increase, and learned double crochet. We are now working on the last skein . I think It will probably have some sort of fun ruffle around the bottom as that is Carmen's style. And we still need to make the belt as well.

Crochetting with Cotton

My friend at MJF, Stephanie has sent me a large box of cotton yarn. My other friend Bonne is trying to help me getover my fear of crochet. So busy once a gain, I have produced a few more washcloths.

The County Fair

Every year we seem to have more and more fun exhibiting our crafts at the fair. This year Anthony fell in love with a sheep. Lexi realized she was tall enough to ride the Fireball. The twins were not scared of the merry go round. Vincent now wants to build a car for the demolition derby. And Carmen has decided she wants to try to have an entry in every division of the children's class for next summer's fair. All our stuff did well this year, thought I would share some pics.

Cakes for Birthdays!

I always ask the kids what they want as far as birthday cakes go...you know, shape, flavor, icing, decorations...whatever they want, I make it. So the girls were no exception this year, Isabella wanting a green dog house cake with puppy candles that match our dog, Copper.

Then of course Francesca wanted an"O" cake with rainbow stripes and tall "very colorful striped candles."

Well, puppy candles are pretty hard to find, so my sister to the rescue, with her puppy sucker mold and good ole crayola crayons.

let's see then, did you know that Twizzler's come in a rainbow pack?

Here is what we came up with.

finally it is done

So, every time one of my kids or my nieces or nephews turns 1, I paint a little rocking chair for them. Well, my creative juices were running low when my daughter turned 1. I had started painting, but hated where it was going. I gave it to her 1/4 finished, and she was happy with it, but I never finished it, so when she had her 2nd birthday I thought I would try again. I usually never have this problem, but here I was again, no idea what to do and tried anyway and it became more hideous. With current events around here as they are, I have recently had a lot of time to just sit and sit and sit and sit...so, a coat of kilz will cover anything and back to the drawing board this rocker went...so here is my latest painted rocker for my daughter's 1st birthday, who is now 2 yrs and 2 months old...but it is done and I think it is so freakin' cute.
