I have struggled for years trying to crochet, my friend Bonne has been giving me pointers and encouraging me with several dishcloths that she has crafted. So, I made 3. They are square, the stitches are fairly even, I like them, but the next ones I make will need to be 1/2 the size, these turned out more the size of placemats.

Those turned out beautifully!! Look up "half double crochet", and "double crochet" and practice those and you'll have this whipped!(they are EZ) Just remember to chain 2 at the end of each row for Half double crochet, and chain 3 for double crochet.
